Government receives premiums taskforce report
The Northern Australia Insurance Premiums Taskforce has handed its final report to the Federal Government.
However, there is no indication on when it might be made public.
“The Government has received the report and is considering it,” a spokesman for Assistant Treasurer Kelly O’Dwyer told insuranceNEWS.com.au.
The taskforce was set up to investigate the problem of high premiums in the north, and whether a mutual insurer or reinsurance pool could resolve the issues experienced by many residents.
Its interim report, released in August, drew no firm conclusions but gave significant weight to the value of mitigation.
