Joseph McNeany, a former insurance agent of the Melbourne suburb of Hawthorn, has pleaded guilty to 20 charges of theft totalling around $78,000. He appeared in the Melbourne Magistrates Court on ASIC-related charges.

ASIC said Mr McNeany failed to forward the insurance premiums paid by clients. He will appear in the Melbourne County Court on May 5 next year.
