FMA to release conduct guide
New Zealand’s Financial Markets Authority is poised to release a “principles-based” guide on the conduct of financial service providers under the Financial Markets Conduct Act.
CEO Rob Everett says the guide will inform how it licenses, supervises, monitors and enforces, and the way it views incentive structures and customer complaints.
“We hope senior leadership of providers will find this guide useful when considering what they do, how they do it and whether they need to change anything so they can show us how they demonstrate good conduct,” he said.
The guide does not create or replace any legal obligations on financial services providers.
