FMA announces executive appointment
New Zealand’s Financial Markets Authority (FMA) has named Daniel Trinder its new Executive Director for Strategy and Design.
Mr Trinder’s experience in the financial services industry includes senior roles at the International Monetary Fund, Deutsche Bank, Goldman Sachs and the UK Treasury. He most recently served as the vice-President of government affairs and policy at the cryptocurrency exchange, Binance.
He will lead the FMA’s strategic focus and also be responsible for research and insights, economic-based analytics, strategy and planning policy, external relations and communications.
FMA Chief Executive Samantha Barrass praised Mr Trinder’s “world-class talent” and hailed him as an “exceptional appointment”.
Mr Trinder is expected to begin his role in June and will be initially based in Wellington.
