Five more years for APRA chair and deputy
There’s a familiar look to the head table at APRA following the reappointment of Chairman John Laker and Deputy Chairman Ross Jones.
The Federal Government announced last week that both will serve a second five-year term at the prudential regulator.
Treasurer Wayne Swan says APRA’s “quality” prudential supervision has helped the financial sector weather recent volatile markets and credited Dr Laker’s “strong leadership”.
In addition to the role of chairman, Dr Laker is APRA’s representative on the Council of Financial Regulators and the Payments System Board of the Reserve Bank of Australia.
Mr Jones takes principal responsibility for superannuation and chairs APRA’s Enforcement Committee, in addition to a number of international regulatory roles.
