Finserv ombudsman is AFCA’s new deputy chief

The Australian Financial Complaints Authority (AFCA) has promoted Dr June Smith to deputy Chief Ombudsman. She was previously Lead Ombudsman Superannuation, Advice, Investments and Life Insurance.

Her initial focus will be to oversee AFCA’s fairness project, investigating if its decisions can be made fairly, and identify a framework for confirming that complaints are consistently resolved in a fair, timely and efficient manner.

Evelyn Halls has been appointed as Lead Ombudsman Banking and Finance. Her previous role was Ombudsman Banking and Finance Decisions.
