Expert joins terror reinsurance pool
Well-known insurance regulator Tom Karp has joined the board of the Australian Reinsurance Pool Corporation for a three-year term.
Mr Karp is an experienced actuary and retired from the Australian Prudential Regulation Authority in June, where he had held several senior roles.
Assistant Treasurer Chris Bowen also announced the reappointment of Geoff Vogt to the corporation board. He is a former CEO of the South Australian Motor Accidents Commission.
The corporation provides terrorism reinsurance for commercial property and infrastructure under the Federal Government’s terrorism insurance scheme.
The scheme was set up in 2003 to replace a shortage of commercial cover after the US terrorist attacks in September 2001.
