NSW’s icare has opened a new clinic offering lung health examinations to employers, workers and retirees exposed to hazardous workplace dust. 

Relocated to icare headquarters at 321 Kent Street Sydney, the Dust Diseases Care (DDC) Health Screening Clinic identifies dust diseases at an early stage and monitors disease progression, educating at-risk workers about personal protection. 

icare currently supports 1810 workers with dust disease, and 3451 dependents. CEO and MD Richard Harding says the new state-of-the-art clinic is “life changing”.  

“We are now able to have our DDC team all working together at icare’s headquarters which will bring us even closer to those we serve,” he said. “Better case identification is the key to enabling early intervention.” 

DDC offers financial support, medical treatment and services such as walking aids, home modifications, at-home nursing care, and vocational re-training. icare also provides screening via a “lung bus” and is aassessing potential for an expanded mobile service.
