Disaster inquiry to meet in northern Queensland
The House of Representatives inquiry into the insurance industry’s response to disasters has expanded its public hearing schedule to the Queensland centres of Toowoomba and Innisfail.
The inquiry by the Social Policy and Legal Affairs Committee will hold public hearings in Brisbane and Ipswich on September 27 and in Toowoomba the next day.
All three areas were badly affected by flooding earlier this year.
The inquiry will convene in Innisfail – which was affected by Cyclone Larry in 2006 and Cyclone Yasi in February this year – on September 29.
