Disaster hub launches online

A website to help communities understand and better prepare for natural disasters has been launched by the Federal Government.

The Australian Emergency Management Knowledge Hub (emknowledge.gov.au) aims to improve the country’s disaster resilience.

The website is a centralised resource featuring “information to help plan and better prepare for the challenges that emergencies such as bushfires and floods present”, according to Emergency Management Minister Nicola Roxon.

“Police, state emergency services, councils and schools are just some groups that can connect and share experiences to improve community resilience to disasters.”

The site features research and news relevant to emergency management, plus a disaster event database and discussion forums.
