CTP fraud arrests mount as crackdown continues
Detectives in NSW have arrested a 13th person over fraudulent compulsory third party (CTP) claims, with their crackdown so far leading to more than 100 charges in relation to a combined fraud exceeding $11 million.
A 24-year-old man was last week charged with 12 counts of fraud, over claims amounting to more than $1.1 million.
Police will allege the man drove a vehicle involved in a staged crash in Liverpool in May, and submitted false claims for the occupants. He was bailed and will face court on September 13.
NSW established the Strike Force Ravens team in August last year following government taskforce recommendations to investigate syndicates targeting the CTP scheme.
The team’s inquiries are continuing and further arrests are expected.
The CTP taskforce is co-ordinated by the State Insurance Regulatory Authority and involves representatives from government agencies and the legal, health and insurance sectors.
