Committee split on Queensland workers’ comp reform

Queensland’s workers’ compensation scheme faces significant reform if proposed legislation is passed.

The State Parliament’s Finance and Administration Committee has published a report on the Workers’ Compensation and Rehabilitation and Other Legislation Amendment Bill.

The bill removes the limitation that requires a worker to have greater than 5% permanent impairment following an injury.

The committee could not agree on this point, and the bill will be discussed by Parliament in the coming weeks.

Treasurer Curtis Pitt is required to respond to the report by December 8.
