Insurance & Care NSW (icare) has named family-owned Buildcorp as the winner of last month’s Aware award, recognising efforts to enhance workplace safety behaviour.

Buildcorp has introduced safety measures that cut the injury rate among new workers to zero and kept premiums 50% below the industry average in the past three years.

It has also produced a safety video for staff and held worker safety talks.

“With ‘continual learning’ as one of its core values, this initiative is just one part of Buildcorp’s ongoing safety system evolution, which includes proactive safety ideas suggested by staff on a regular basis,” icare GM Prevention Product and Pricing Jason McLaughlin said. “We are looking forward to plenty more in the way of safety innovations.”

The monthly Aware award was launched last December.
