Brokers acquitted on ASIC charges
Former Doncaster-based insurance brokers Stephen and Sharon Romp have been acquitted in the Melbourne Magistrates’ Court of charges arising from an Australian Securities and Investments Commission (ASIC) investigation.
ASIC had brought a number of charges under the now defunct Insurance (Agents & Brokers) Act against the couple in relation to their roles as directors of Park Lane Insurance Brokers, and the alleged operation of four unregistered insurance broking businesses, Park Lane Antiquities, Park Lane CPF Insurance Brokers, Park Lane Private Clients, and Group One.
