Broker to be wound up

The NSW Supreme Court has appointed a liquidator to wind up the affairs of Sydney insurance broker Blundell & Associates. Anthony Sims had already been appointed as the liquidator of associated company Blundell Coleman Insurance Brokers. The directors of both companies consented to the appointment.

The liquidation follows orders made by the Supreme Court earlier this year that Blundell & Associates be prevented from conducting an insurance broking business in contravention of sections 19 and 21 of the Insurance (Agents and Brokers) Act.

Blundell Coleman has also been permanently restrained from conducting a financial services business in contravention of section 911A of the Corporations Act 2001.

The Court also ordered that Paul Blundell and Matthew Clive Coleman, who were directors of Blundell Coleman, be permanently restrained from providing a financial service on behalf of another person who runs a financial service business.
