Brisbane financial planner banned for fraud
The Australian Securities and Investments Commission (ASIC) has permanently banned Brisbane financial planner Harvey Baigent from acting as a representative of a dealer or investment adviser after he was charged with four counts of fraud under the Queensland Criminal Code.
Mr Baigent was sentenced in June to four years’ jail for using about $152,000 of company money for his own use. The regulator’s investigation was spurred following a complaint from his former employer, Partnership Planning, part of the ING Group.
ASIC Director of Enforcement Allen Turton says Mr Baigent’s history of fraud was enough to have him permanently banned from acting as representative of a dealer or investment adviser.
