ASIC to host forum

The Australian Securities and Investments Commission (ASIC) will hold its annual forum in Sydney on Monday and Tuesday next week.

The event, themed “creating confidence to grow”, will examine the role of regulation in the financial system, the balance between growth and stability, whether regulation inhibits innovation and how participation in the system can be increased.

Speakers include Financial System Inquiry Chairman David Murray, Australian Institute of Company Directors CEO and MD John Brogden, and Australian Research Council Centre of Excellence in Population Ageing Research director John Piggott.

There will also be a moderated panel session, with ASIC commissioners outlining priorities for the year ahead.

The annual dinner will include a keynote address and panel discussion on the question: can the financial industry regulate itself?

Registration for the forum at the Hilton Sydney is available here.
