ASIC puts the show on the road
Just a few months after the Financial Services Reform Act came into operation, the Australian Securities and Investments Commission (ASIC) is forming a roadshow to tell the industry what’s next. The “ASIC Speaks” seminars, sub-titled “FSR: the road ahead”, will play to audiences in all state capitals during June.
The regulator said in a statement that the seminars – which are being organised with the Securities Institute – will be “an opportunity to take stock and see what the industry looks like now and, more importantly, where ASIC’s focus will be in the future”.
And it warns: “Although much of our work over the coming 12 months will be operational and compliance-based, the development of regulatory policy will also continue.”
If you’re overjoyed with the prospect of even more regulation, pop on down to your local ASIC seminar. We don’t know if they’ll be encouraging questions from the floor.
