ASIC extols virtues of transparency
The Australian Securities and Investments Commission (ASIC) has published an information sheet on the benefits of co-operating with investigations.
It explains how transparency and early notification of misconduct can be acknowledged in court proceedings or allow for alternative resolutions.
“This release is part of our commitment to improving transparency,” Deputy Chairman Belinda Gibson said.
“The information increases the public’s understanding of how ASIC uses its enforcement powers.
“A co-operative approach could mean a quicker resolution of action taken for misconduct [and] time and cost savings for ASIC.”
