ASIC bans Insured Group MD Miller
Insured Group MD Wayne Miller has been banned from the financial services industry for four years.
The Australian Securities and Investments Commission (ASIC) acted against Mr Miller for failing to file accounts in the 2013 and 2014 financial years and not reporting the breach.
Insured Group has not released any accounts since it was delisted from the New Zealand Stock Exchange in March 2014. During its four years on the exchange it was fined for numerous breaches of listing rules by the market regulator.
Last year ASIC cancelled the Australian financial services licences of associated businesses ACI Broking (WA), ACI Broking (Victoria), Assent Insurance Services and Aurora Underwriting Agency.
ACI (WA) is being liquidated, as is Australian Consolidated Insurance.
A report by liquidator, Deloitte Touche Tohmatsu, and obtained by insuranceNEWS.com.au shows it has prepared accounts from last July to last month only.
The accounts show ACI had creditors amounting to $1.02 million, with the bulk unsecured.
The report says no money was held by the liquidator, either in cash or at the bank.
According to the ASIC companies website, Insured Group, Assent Insurance Services, ACI Broking (Victoria) Aurora Underwriting Agency and Advanced Insurance Technologies are not in external administration.
