ASIC asks for advisers’ input on survey
The Australian Securities and Investments Commission (ASIC) has called on intermediaries and their clients to complete its second small business survey.
“We’re very keen to hear not just from small business operators themselves, but also from anybody who helps advise a small business or who helps facilitate a small business,” Commissioner Greg Tanzer said. “All that feedback will be useful to us.”
The anonymous online survey takes about five minutes to complete and covers small businesses’ engagement and communication with ASIC, plus awareness of their legal and regulatory obligations.
It includes issues such as licensing, business renewal and changes of name, plus questions about how ASIC resources such as the small business booklet and online hub are used.
Mr Tanzer says the first survey, 18 months ago, found small businesses were confused about ASIC compliance, so the regulator launched resources to fix the problem.
Work on a phone and tablet app to summarise the booklet and hub is ongoing.
The second survey is “very much a follow-up to the first survey, finding out how well we’ve addressed what people were telling us”.
