ARPC welcomes first terrorism pools congress
The Australian Reinsurance Pool Corporation (ARPC) hopes to share knowledge at the inaugural Congress for National Terrorism (Re)insurance Pools.
Hosted by the UK’s Pool Re, the event will take place at the Royal Institution in London from October 28-30.
It aims to drive debate on issues affecting worldwide terrorism (re)insurance, and the role of governments in the market.
Terrorism pools from 14 countries will be represented, including India, Russia, France, Germany and the US.
CEO Chris Wallace told insuranceNEWS.com.au the ARPC regularly interacts with other pools.
“The congress will allow us to share expertise, information and best-practice approaches to pricing, retrocession reinsurance and the role of government in providing financial support to pools,” he said. “Speakers will also discuss emerging issues such as cyber risks and opportunities for closer collaboration.
“Overall, the event will help the ARPC retain its position as a leading best-practice pool.”
Pool Re CEO Julian Enoizi says the (re)insurance industry has a long history of evolving in the face of threats.
“The future of terrorism reinsurance is a question lacking a coherent, international response and I hope that, through working together, we can ensure the most informed and appropriate approach for the protection of our various economies.”
