APRA finalises reporting standards

The Australian Prudential Regulation Authority (APRA) has released the final reporting standards, forms and instructions for its simplified reporting framework for general insurers.

The new reporting standards will be effective for the reporting period ending September 30 and will apply to both quarterly and annual returns.

To assist in APRA’s preparation and publication of statistics, general insurers will be required to submit some additional data.

This is set out in transitional reporting standards that apply to the reporting periods ending between April 1 and June 30 this year, with this data due to APRA on September 30.

The first full annual returns under the new basis of reporting for the September 30 year-end will be due in January 2011, with December 31 year-end returns due in April 2011.
