APRA announces scholarship program
APRA and the Reserve Bank of Australia have established an annual scholarship program in memory of regulatory stalwart Brian Gray.
Mr Gray died in August last year while serving as Executive General Manager of APRA’s Policy, Research and Consulting Division. Prior to joining APRA he had spent more than 20 years shaping policy at the Reserve Bank.
“Brian’s death was a sad shock to us all,” APRA CEO Graeme Thompson said. “It is fitting that his legacy includes supporting tomorrow’s experts in prudential supervision and regulation,” he said.
The Brian Gray Scholarship program will fund four scholarships annually. Each will be worth $12,500 and will be available to honours students, although postgraduate students can apply. Topics include the economics of regulation, as well as insurance, superannuation, banking, particularly prudential supervision and financial soundness of these industries, and econometric and statistical studies using APRA’s databases.
