Alleged insurance fraudster faces trial

A Victorian man will stand trial for fraud over allegations he was paid premiums for fake insurance policies.

Samuel Tessa faces five charges of dishonestly obtaining a financial advantage by deception, with each charge carrying a maximum sentence of 10 years in prison.

The Australian Securities and Investments Commission alleges he targeted Melbourne vehicle repair shops.

Mr Tessa has pleaded not guilty and been bailed. His trial will be in the County Court of Victoria.
