Albanese names new emergency management, cybersecurity ministers

NSW senator Jenny McAllister is the new federal Emergency Management Minster, taking over from Murray Watt.

Senator Watt has been appointed Employment and Workplace Relations Minister in a series of changes made by Prime Minister Anthony Albanese.

Tony Burke, who previously held the employment and workplace relations portfolio, takes over from Clare O’Neil as Cybersecurity Minister. He is also Minister for Home Affairs, Immigration and Multicultural Affairs, and has retained his arts portfolio. 

Other cabinet roles now include: 

  • Julie Collins – Minister for Agriculture, Fisheries and Forestry; Minister for Small Business 
  • Clare O’Neil – Minister for Housing; Minister for Homelessness
  • Senator Malarndirri McCarthy – Minister for Indigenous Australians 
  • Pat Conroy – Minister for the Defence Industry and Capability Delivery; Minister for International Development and the Pacific
