The Australian Securities and Investments Commission has permanently banned a Sydney financial adviser for submitting false life insurance applications.

An investigation found Pavan Vyas earned commissions using the names of friends and non-existent people.

He was an authorised representative of Lionsgate Financial Group and HNW Planning at the time of the offences.

The regulator’s investigation into Mr Vyas is continuing.
