Cyclone Wallace is moving over open ocean off the Pilbara coast and is not expected to hit WA in the next few days.

The Category 2 cyclone may develop further today but will weaken tomorrow, the Bureau of Meteorology says. There is no cyclone advice for the storm.

The bureau says the cyclone could ease to a tropical low on Wednesday evening.

The Australian cyclone season ends this month.
