Victorian bushfire victims lodge claims
RACV insurance has received 87 claims relating to recent Victorian bushfires – including three total losses.
The claims are spread across 24 communities, a spokesman told insuranceNEWS.com.au.
“In addition to RACV assessors who have been inspecting fire-affected properties, frontline staff are on the ground assisting our members at Riddells Creek, Romsey and Wallan.”
CGU has received about 70 claims but says it is too early to give an accurate indication of cost. However, a spokesman says average claim costs “appear to be at the lower end”.
The Insurance Council of Australia has not declared the fires a catastrophe but it continues to monitor their impact. At least 45 houses are believed to have been destroyed.
