Vic bushfires burn up more money
The Insurance Disaster Recovery Organisation (IDRO) says insurers have received 250 claims totalling $10 million as a result of the Victorian bushfire disaster. This loss comes on the back of a $54 million payout to ACT policyholders.
IDRO Victorian Co-ordinator Peter Jamvold says now that the threat of fire has eased, people are able to “turn their minds from fighting the fires to making a claim”.
“Loss adjusters have also been able to gain access to some areas at the centre of the emergency, allowing the claims process to progress more swiftly,” he said. “This enables insurers to put a more up-to-date figure on the claims.
