Throwing tomatoes at public liability
Victoria was to experience the world’s biggest tomato fight at the Formula 1 Australian Grand Prix earlier this month, but the idea went sour when the organisers were unable to obtain affordable public liability insurance. Premiums of about $200,000 forced them out, but they say they have now found cheaper cover. Now they’ll be making a mess in September at celebrations coinciding with the AFL Grand Final. But Victorian growers won’t be able to supply tomatoes for the event – they’ll be trucked in from Queensland.
