Survey shows young insurance staff value their careers
Most young workers in the insurance industry like their job and plan to stick around, a survey by the Australian and New Zealand Institute of Insurance and Finance (ANZIIF) reveals.
The “Generation I” survey polled almost 500 people aged 18 to 35 from a range of industries, and found 95% of young insurance professionals are happy in their work.
Some 68% of young insurance workers admit they fell into the career by chance but 74% intend to stay in the industry for at least six years.
ANZIIF GM Marketing and Communications Cameron Skews says it is an “incredible result” for the industry when compared to overall figures that show 63% of young people stay in their jobs for less than two years.
“Once they begin working here and discover the breadth of opportunities the industry offers, they stay,” he said.
“Generation I” is a networking program designed to foster a sense of community among young insurance professionals. It is sponsored by QBE, CommInsure, Munich Re and law firm Sparke Helmore.
