Storms lash southeast Queensland
Southeast Queensland took a battering last week when storms and hail hit, leaving more than 2000 homes without power and a hefty damage bill. A line of storms swept from Toowoomba to Stanthorpe and headed towards the coast.
Insurance Council of Australia Queensland Manager Graham Jones says there were three consecutive days of storms causing inundation and hail damage.
He says the number of claims is yet to be finalised, as insurers were continuing to get calls.
“At the moment the claims are in excess of $8 million, and the figure will most likely exceed $10 million.”
