Steadfast convention goes west

Broker cluster Steadfast will hold its 12th convention in Perth next March, defying persistent rumours that Melbourne was to host the 2010 event.

CEO John Phillips says Steadfast’s venue options are being restricted by the convention’s own success. This year’s four-day event attracted 1550 delegates, a number that many Australian resort centres couldn’t accommodate.

“In fact, there’s only six places in Australia that can accommodate a crowd this size,” he told insuranceNEWS.com.au. “We’re confined to the state capitals and the Gold Coast at present.”

The next convention from March 13 to 16 will be based in the Perth Convention and Exhibition Centre.

Mr Phillips says early feedback from last week’s convention “has all been very positive. We got through a lot of business on Saturday with the members. We’re all pulling in the same direction.”

Raffles at the two official Steadfast dinners supported youth projects, with $14,000 raised for the Create Foundation and $100,900 for Youngcare.
