Roos bumping up motor claims
Collisions with animals are on the rise, accounting for thousands of insurance claims.
New research by NRMA Insurance shows more than 25 NSW motorists are involved in an animal-related collision each day.
Last year the insurer recorded more than 9000 collisions, more than 7000 of which involved kangaroos.
NRMA Head of Research Robert McDonald says motorists should slow down at dawn and dusk “especially during the winter months when we see a 30% increase in roo collisions”.
NRMA estimates animal collisions cost the NSW community about $70 million last year.
