The Association of Risk and Insurance Managers of Australasia (ARIMA) will hold its national conference in Canberra in November. The theme will be “Risk management: the foundation of effective corporate governance”. That sounds more a statement than a theme – the role of risk management in corporate governance is well recognised – but the choice of Canberra apparently has little to do with cosying up to the legislators. According to the conference organisers, the choice of Canberra is merely recognition of the centenary of federation.
