Risk Frontiers goes it alone

Natural hazards research centre Risk Frontiers has split from Macquarie University after a 23-year partnership.

Set up in 1994 by Macquarie professor Russell Blong, the centre was initially funded by insurance, reinsurance and reinsurance broking companies.

But CEO John McAneney announced last week that Risk Frontiers will now operate as an independent company.

The centre says strong relationships forged with key academics at Macquarie will be maintained, and it will continue to provide “the rigorous, science-based advice that clients have come to expect”.

Professor McAneney says there will be “an even greater focus on creating innovative commercial solutions to natural peril and other extreme risks”.
