The Real Estate Institute of Victoria (REIV) has launched its own insurance cover to protect landlords against dodgy tenants.

REIV’s Landlords Package includes $50,000 of contents cover for fire, damage and theft.

The policy also provides limited cover for rental income losses and legal expenses if the tenant disappears or is evicted.

The annual premium costs $225 and is underwritten by Ace Insurance.
