Queensland hailstorm losses soar to $120 million

Insured losses from last week’s Sunshine Coast hailstorm have climbed to at least $120 million from more than 15,800 claims, according to the Insurance Council of Australia (ICA).

About 11,199 of the claims are for damage to motor vehicles.

A spokesman for IAG told insuranceNEWS.com.au today the insurer has so far received 3039 claims across its brands. The majority of claims are from customers with vehicle insurance cover.

Suncorp says it has placed customer support teams on the ground in Queensland to help expedite the claims process for affected customers.
