Queensland flood hearings end
The Queensland Floods Commission of Inquiry hearings have wrapped up with the final round of hearings held last week in Brisbane.
The second round of hearings began on September 19, and concentrated on the performance of insurers in meeting their claims responsibilities. More than 700 submissions were received.
The commission delivered its interim report to the Queensland Government on August 1 and its final report will be provided to the Queensland Government by February 24.
The inquiry has focused on issues surrounding insurers’ timeliness in processing claims, the adequacy of claims assessment processes, the adequacy of communication by insurers, the adequacy of claims complaints processes and whether potential claimants were inappropriately dissuaded from lodging or pursuing claims.
