Queensland does it quietly

There was no flurry of criticism over insurers’ intentions when Queensland announced a package of reforms to deal with public liability and medical indemnity insurance. Premier Peter Beatty promised the creation of an “insurance taskforce” and the banning of all “no-win no-fee” legal advertising.

The taskforce will act as the platform for the Personal Injuries and Proceedings Bill to be introduced into Parliament next month. It will cover a range of issues including limits on claims and costs.
