Quake claims make Valentine’s Day an unhappy date
Almost 13,000 Canterbury property owners have lodged damage claims following the magnitude- 5.7 Valentine’s Day earthquake this year, according to the latest Earthquake Commission figures.
The earthquake occurred at 1.13pm on February 14, 15km east of Christchurch and about 15km deep.
Some 12,897 people lodged claims before the May 16 deadline.
A second earthquake hit Canterbury on February 29 and residents have until May 30 to lodge claims for that event.
