QBE has been named General Insurance Company of the Year at the Australia and New Zealand Insurance Industry Awards.

Chartis Asia-Pacific CEO Chris Townsend, who led the Australian arm of the company through the AIG crisis, was named Insurance Leader of the Year.

Marsh again won the Large Broker of the Year award at the gala event in Sydney, while Australian Reliance was named Small and Medium Broker of the Year.
