QBE has won the National Insurance Brokers Association (NIBA) General Insurer of the Year award for the 11th consecutive year.

NIBA President David Duffield says the voting by NIBA members around Australia revealed “three strong contenders” in Allianz, Vero and QBE.

Receiving the award at the NIBA Convention on the Gold Coast yesterday, QBE GM Australian Intermediaries Shaun Standfield paid tribute to the company’s support staff, “whose vital contribution often goes unrecognised”.

“This award caps off a great week for QBE, after the Sydney Swans won the grand final last weekend,” he said. The company has been principal sponsor of the AFL club for 25 years.

Voting this year was opened to all NIBA members rather than the previous system of one vote per office.

Mr Duffield says that more than 830 brokers voted this year.
