Promina exodus gathers pace at Suncorp

The exodus of former Promina executives at Suncorp has quickened, with another two Vero managers tendering sudden resignations.

Suncorp's ongoing integration of Promina struck more turbulence with EGM Intermediated Distribution Denise Bofill departing today for "personal reasons" and Christine Bell, the head of broker relationships at Vero, leaving after her position was split into two.

Ms Bofill, who tendered her resignation "effective immediately", was one of only two Promina executives appointed to Suncorp's 10-person commercial insurance business team earlier this year.

Ms Bell has resigned after her role was split into two separate positions to "afford our brokers better access to our people, services and products", a Vero spokesman said.

Ms Bell declined to take one of the roles and will leave the company on Friday.

Workers' Compensation EGM Andrew Mulvogue, a Suncorp appointee, will take over Ms Bofill's position until a new appointment is made.

The departure of Ms Bofill and Ms Bell is the latest chapter in what appears to be an unhappy transition to the Suncorp banner for many top-level Promina employees.

Last month, AAMI chief Michael Kay stepped down "by mutual agreement" after 14 years with the former Promina company - regarded as the jewel in the Promina crown.

AAMI CFO Simon Fortune and Promina actuary Brett Ward have also parted ways with Suncorp.

The departure of the former Promina executives has raised further industry speculation that Promina executives are finding Suncorp's management culture difficult to accept.

The appointment in March of 14-year Suncorp manager Mark Milliner to the premier position of Group Executive Commercial Insurance ahead of highly regarded Vero CEO Duncan West - who immediately left - also wrong-footed many Vero employees.
