Privacy awareness growing
Privacy is emerging as a major consideration for consumers, according to the Insurance Council. The issue is now seen as important by 91% of domestic lines customers and 90% of commercial clients.
ICA Executive Director Alan Mason said a new survey shows the industry’s privacy principles aren’t well recognised by the public, “which suggests more needs to be done” by the industry and the Federal Government.
The Government introduced the Privacy Amendment (Private Sector) Bill on December 21. It establishes national standards for the private sector and will come into effect next December.
