Price campaign claims major discounts

“Consumer champion” One Big Switch has teamed up with Woolworths Insurance to conclude its latest insurance campaign.

Woolworths, which is underwritten by Hollard, offered discounted home and contents and motor premiums to the 26,000 people who signed up.

It pledged to slash home and contents prices by 20% for policies bought online, and beat any comparable motor renewal for customers aged 25 and above.

It would also throw in a $100 Woolworths gift card for each buyer.

The insurance industry has been strongly critical of the scheme, arguing it prioritises price over coverage and could leave consumers exposed.

One Big Switch and its “partners”, News Corp and Seven West Media, gain a commission from any sales.
