NZ insurance awards announced

Wellington broker Brett Gray has been named New Zealand’s Insurance Broker of the Year. Mr Gray, of national brokerage Crombie Lockwood, received the award at the Insurance Brokers Association of New Zealand (IBANZ) annual conference in Adelaide late last week.

Grant Milne of Marsh and Gavin Taylor of Insurance Consultants took out the IBANZ Young Brokers of the Year award.

The Insurer of the Year Award went to Vero NZ, and the IBANZ Branch of the Year was Otago.

Veteran broker Robert Martin of Total Insurance Corporation was awarded the Broking Industry Service Award. He worked for several years to bring together the country’s two broker organisations and was the inaugural President of IBANZ.

A special award was presented to Malcolm Congdon, who prior to the formation of IBANZ had been CEO of the Corporation of Insurance Brokers of NZ. Mr Congdon continues to work at IBANZ, and has now worked for broker organisations in New Zealand for 18 years.
