NRMA stands by repairer scheme
Following last week’s Sunrise Exchange News article about NRMA Insurance being taken to court by the Australian Automotive Repairers Association (AARA) over NRMA’s preferred smash repairer program, the insurer claims more than 96% of its customers are happy with the system.
AARA claims the program – which lists the names of “preferred” smash repairers but doesn’t insist on policyholders using them – is in breach of the Trade Practices Act.
But NRMA Insurance says a survey of customers shows the vast majority are happy with the current system, and the company is confident it is within its legal rights to provide the service.
The case has been adjourned until the end of March.
