No sixes for cricketers

Liability concerns are preventing cricketers at a sports ground at the leafy Melbourne eastern suburb of Glen Iris from whacking a six to the boundary. It appears that the risk of lawsuits from balls hitting spectators and bystanders has prompted the Boroondara City Council to ban sixes at the Canterbury Sports Ground and Dorothy Laver Reserve.

Under a new rule, cricketers will not get any runs for a six, and the ball will not be rebowled.
